So many of us feel like we’re not enough. We have all of these expectations for ourselves about what it means to be good enough and if we don’t meet them.... well, we can start to feel pretty negatively about ourselves. When we’re negative about ourselves, we can’t be the best version of ourselves! Much of feeling like a “failure” comes from unrealistic expectations we have. The podcast this week is all about overcoming this feeling of not enough.
We all know what we’re not good at—we could go on and on about these things for days, but that is not helpful. It’s so easy to get stuck thinking about things we don’t excel at. Instead I want you to focus on the things you ARE good at. Here are some tips to get you started:
- Identify your Superpowers: What is your “superpower”? What are things you’re good at that you don’t give yourself credit for? Start by thinking about what comes naturally to you. Ask others close to you what they see as your strengths. Once you write these things down, start to assess how you can use these in your life more.
- Use your superpowers in more areas of life: Think about things you do well in one area of your life and apply these to other areas of your life. Remind yourself of these things every single day. The more you focus on these things, the more you’ll be able to counter the feeling of "not enough". Instead of focusing on what you’re not good at, focus on your superpowers and really believe in that power.
-Give yourself some grace: Cut yourself some slack, girl! The feeling of not being enough won’t ever go away and the things you are and are not good at will evolve through different seasons of your life. The more you practice focusing on the good, the better you’ll become at fighting off those feelings of not enough.
